To hold you over

Sorry, still no four month photos.  I am getting my hair cut today and I have high hopes that they will get edited while I'm gone.  In the meantime, here are some terrible-quality cell phone pics of Elliott doing the "tripod" sit.

Four Months and Another Road Trip

**Updated with the photos!

I can't believe you are four months old already!

You are really turning into a big boy.  This month you have almost mastered the art of picking things up.  We went on yet another car trip (this time to Kentucky), and your dad and I got such a kick out of hearing the noises that were coming from your toys in your car seat.  We were hearing your bee buzzing (that you have to press to vibrate), your elephant signing (that you have to pull on for noises), and your ball rattling.  It's funny the things that make new parents giddy.  You really can't understand until you are a parent yourself.

You are definitely getting the hang of these mini push-ups.  I thought you'd never learn them since you hate tummy time so much.  Now that you are pushing up, you seem to enjoy being on your belly a little bit more.  While at "Emmie's" house, you rolled for Emmie and Aunt Andi.  They didn't come get me because they thought I had seen you do it before.  I was sad that I missed your first time, but almost cried when I saw you roll from tummy to back.  We've been practicing at home too.  Once you rolled so fast you got startled and cried.  Poor thing.

Also while we were at home we had the pleasure of meeting up with babies Lilly and Finley.  You thought they were both very nice and cute, and will have a tough time deciding which one will be your girlfriend some day.  The play date was wild, as evidenced by this photo:

Lilly, Elliott, and Finley

Mom and Dad enjoyed catching up with their adult friends too.  Hopefully this is the first of many play dates with these little ladies.

Emmie threw her annual Labor Day party.  Friends and family who don't always attend flocked to her house to meet you.  Only you had other plans.  The party began at 5:30 at which time you decided to throw a tantrum and go to bed for the evening.  Good thing you're cute.  You will have to really turn on the charm in October and December-- you still have lots of people to impress (I don't think this will be a problem for you though).

Your vomiting has improved.  At this point, I would only refer to it as heavy spit-up.  You and I still both require multiple changes of clothes daily, however (yesterday the culprit was pee though).  We also had a bout of tummy troubles this month, but we solved that problem too, thank goodness.

While walking in Thompson Park in August, we were tracked down by some other Mommies and babies and were invited to be in their Mommy and Me workout group, Stroller Strides.  We have been attending class every Monday, Wednesday, Friday ever since.  Here is a picture of us in class.  This was taken the only time you decided to be fussy during the class.  Usually you sit contently in the stroller and just soak it all in...or chew on your stroller straps despite the numerous toys that I provide you with.

You seem to like class (for the small amount of time you stay awake).  No one can believe how easy going you are.  You are my little super star!

Speaking of being little, you still are, which makes Mommy happy and nervous at the same time.  You can still wear a lot of your 0-3 clothes, but are starting to fit into some 3-6 and 6 month clothes.  You have upgraded to size 2 diapers.  Since you started holding down your milk in the last month, you are starting to get a little more rolly.  At your 4 month check up, you weighed 13 lbs 9 oz and were 26 in long!  I think you are going to be tall and skinny like Daddy.  Also, when the doctor asked if you had any teeth I quickly replied, "no" as she felt in your mouth and found one that had just popped through!  Daddy was devastated that he didn't find your first tooth!

Little One,  you have been a pleasure so far.  I swear you get cuter and cuter each day.  Mommy and Daddy love you immensely and we can't wait to see what next month brings!

Checking In...

Things are happening over here, I promise.

Elliott has had his 4 month photo shoot and the post is written, but the pics still require hubby's attention.

The table and chairs are almost finished.  I have 2 more seats to reupholster, and this reupholstering has taken waaaaayyyy longer than expected.  Turning cane-back chairs into upholstered chairs wasn't super scary, but I have decided that I officially hate making double cord welting.  I need Jeff's help moving the furniture around and the present table requires dis-assembly to get it out of the house, so who knows how long that will take!

Meanwhile, we had a fun little family trip to Burrville Cider Mill this weekend.  If you follow me on Facebook, you already know this.  The Cider Mill is an iconic Watertown staple.  It is absolutely precious--a teeny-tiny cabin perched onto a rather steep hill with a small waterfall behind.  It's always extremely congested, as the locals flock there every weekend morning in the fall for the famous cider donuts.  yum!  Unfortunately, this year the apple prices in NY State went up 200-300% due to the warm winter and summer months, causing the half gallons of cider to cost nearly $5!  That, however, did not stop Jeff from purchasing 8 of them for making some hard cider.  Little Elliott did what he does best, and napped through most of the excitement.
