Nine Months!
Oh my, you're nine months old today! And we haven't even posted the eight month photos yet. We have them, I promise. They just aren't edited yet. Fail. UPDATE--ALL THE PHOTOS ARE POSTED!
But...
You are the cutest, most adorable thing to grace my world. And I've seen some cute and adorable things in my day.
The biggest change this month is your mobility. You are fast--like lightening. You especially love zooming towards outlets and cords, your HUMIDIFIER (you can't get enough of the humidifier), and the dogs water bowls. You pull up on EVERYTHING. You are getting so strong that you can almost lift your feet off the ground when you try to pull up on the built-in under the TV. Thankfully, you have not discovered the stairs yet. You are also not cruising yet, but you are using only one hand to hold on to things, so I think we are pretty close on that one. You are starting to get into things. You love trying to pull DVDs out of the bottom of the TV console and just last night, you emptied the contents of the diaper bag onto the living room floor. The other day, you tried to open the Tupperware cabinet. You're in for a real surprise when you do get it open and all the plastic containers avalanche towards you. Much to Daddy's dismay, Mommy puts things away haphazardly. It's probably time to do something about that cabinet....
You seem to be getting a bit annoyed with pureed foods. Though not independent enough to hold your own bottle or reach for the spoon, you do seem to be preferring finger foods. Go figure. You are doing well chewing since you now have five cute little teeth. There must be more on the way because you are a drool machine.
You are still in those size three diapers, but you are getting ready to outgrow your 9 month clothes. At your nine month doctor visit, you were 19 lbs 9 oz (31st percentile) and 29 inches long (72nd percentile).
You continue to be the happiest baby of all time, and Daddy continues to be the funniest person of all time. I'm so enjoying this age-- you're curious and independent and the perfect little sidekick. Stay adorable, my sweet Angel.

Daddy calls this your "Dwight Schrute" picture. You don't even look like yourself, but it was impossible to get you to stay still for your blanket photo!

A little local fame
Last week, one of the authors of a popular local blog came to our Stroller Strides class to take photos for an article. Check it out!

Christening
While we were home over Christmas break, Elliott and his cousin, Will, had a joint-Christening.
It proved to be a bit difficult to find a cute outfit in a giant-7-month-old size, so I turned to my trusty sewing machine.

I chose to use this Simplicity pattern. You can read my review here if you feel so inclined. I think his little outift came out pretty darn cute!
He was not being a happy baby model, and no, he did not actually wear blue socks to the ceremony!
The ceremony was very sweet. The priest had married both of us couples, which was nice. Elliott and Will both behaved very well and didn't even cry when the water touched their heads!
A shot with all the God Parents (minus Paul, who was in Florida)...
After the ceremony, my Mother-in-law had everyone back to her house for a very nice little party. Her house was beautifully decorated for Christmas, including my Father-in-law's train sets, which was a hit with all the kiddos (including Elliott!).
All-in-all, it was a nice day and we were so glad to be able to share it with Will--it made it so much more special!

Elliott looked like the Marshmallow Puff man next to baby Will.

8 Months
Well, you went and did it...you turned eight months old. You are 2/3 of your way to a year. Holy Cannoli!
We spent the last 2 weeks in Kentucky for Christmas and New Years. We returned to Stroller Strides today for the first time since we have been back. I swear I left with one Elliott and returned with another one.
In the last 2 weeks, you have learned to crawl, chew, yell, and pull up to your knees! Oh yeah, and last night at dinner, you said "Da-Da", repeatedly. When we tried to get you to say, "Ma-Ma," you stared at us like we were nuts. What the heck?!
We are still not at the crawl-from-room-to-room stage, but you are definitely mobile--and finding every little piece of fuzz and who-knows-what on the floor. Yikes! Momma needs to clean some floors today! When you get to a toy or piece of furniture large enough, you can pull up to your knees before melting back into the floor.
You are doing great with eating. You have not disliked one thing I have given you (even beets and turnips!). Last night you tried Puffs for the first time, and loved them! You just weren't sure how to get the ones stuck in your fists into your mouth. You still continue to refuse to hold your own bottle and are downing 4-6 6 ounce bottles/day.
As far as your size, I think you are about 20 pounds now. You wear 9 month clothes and size 3 diapers. You are rapidly growing out of your size 3 shoes.
You had tons of fun visiting our families in Kentucky. You just loved being entertained by the 9 million adults that were swooning over you at all times. You got a kick when you figured out how to yell and subsequently realized that it made all the adults swoon even more. You little ham.
You loved all the fun presents that you got to open Christmas morning. I'm not sure if we have a favorite yet, but Mommy did have to make a trip to Target yesterday to figure out some sort of toy storage solution. Yay for after Christmas clearance.
Little Buddy, you have brought so much joy to your dad and me, and to the rest of the family as well. It has been so fun watching you grow and learn this month. I can't wait to see what next month has in store!

Seven Months
How is this possible?
When did you become seven months old?
I will admit, there were a few months there when I couldn't wait for you to get older, learn some fun new trick, wear that cute outfit that didn't quite fit yet.
That is over. I want to freeze you in time right now. PLEASE STOP GROWING. And, goodness gracious, please don't start crawling! I'm not ready for you to be mobile just yet.
You couldn't be any more precious if you tried. You are becoming quite the little Mommy's Boy, but only Daddy can elicit those deep-down belly laughs from you. In addition to Daddy, you think your Yoda and Lyla are pretty funny too.
You are getting so into toys. We discovered the stacking rings this week. I'm pretty sure you are a genius baby because you immediately realized that picking the entire thing up and dumping it out is much more time efficient than taking the rings off one by one. You also love to bang things. You are so funny because while you love banging, your eyes flinch in anticipation of the noise you are about to produce. Speaking of you producing noises, you are very into the "th" and "f" sounds right now. Adorably, your favorite toys are your books. You are starting to help me turn the pages and you just love chewing on the corners!
Bath time has become much more exciting now ever since you learned about splashing. And Mommy really raised the bar when I started squirting you with your little squirt turtle. You laugh and laugh.
You are doing pretty well with eating. This week has been an exception. You must be teething because sleeping and eating have become crazy. You like most all foods that I've given you with the exception of apples and bananas (seriously, kid? aren't babies are supposed to love apples and bananas). Don't worry, I forced you into liking them by offering them numerous times, hiding in all sorts of combinations.
Your sleep patterns continue to be....something. You insist upon going to bed at 6 PM, which used to be fine, but now you no longer sleep through the night. You pop up sometime between 12-4 AM for a bottle and a diaper/outfit change (yes, you require a nightly outfit change now). Usually, you still sleep until 6 AM -ish.
Napping has become crazy too. You take 2-3 naps per day, but who knows when, it's always a surprise! Trying to keep Mommy on her toes and prevent her from running errands, I think.
You are getting big. As much as I'm not ready, I think you are ready to crawl. When I stalk you on thesurveillance system video monitor, I see that you can get up on your knees (on all fours) in your crib. You can also scoot backwards when you are on your tummy on the floor. I'm not ready for this.
Seriously, kid, you're pretty great right now. Consider, just consider, not growing anymore. That would be great, thanks.
Oh, by the way, you know the drill. The photos will be posted......eventually. Done.
